The curriculum for the Chinese language courses is expected for a 3-year study programme. It covers various aspects of the language, including phonetics, grammar, oral practice, fundamentals of business and professional Chinese vocabulary, and written expression.
The aim of the Chinese language courses is to develop students' ability to use formal means to create grammatically and lexically correct, meaningful statements in Chinese, appropriate to the context, time, and sphere of communication.
Objectives:
- To provide students with knowledge of the main features of the phonetic system of the PRC's national language (Putonghua)
- To master the skills of correct pronunciation of sounds and intonation features of the Chinese language
- To master the basic concepts of the grammatical structure of the Chinese language as a system of rules and structures in terms of their functioning in speech
- To learn the vocabulary of modern Chinese
- To form skills in structuring speech in both oral and written forms in Chinese
- To develop the ability to express one's viewpoint clearly, logically, and accurately in Chinese using appropriate linguistic means
